Complete overhaul of a production management application for the automotive industry.

Project Context

Following a previous experience on the production line where I identified critical malfunctions in the existing management tool, I was commissioned for a 2-month mission to restore and modernize the application.

This application is a vital internal solution for tracking automotive parts production.

    Technical Challenges

    The main goal was to implement a module dedicated to shipping and client logistics tracking. However, significant technical debt required a broader overhaul: updating the Tomcat application server, securing Java code, and improving user experience.

      Achievements

      • Software architecture overhaul in Java EE.
      • Requirements gathering from production operators to design a suitable interface.
      • Prototyping (Adobe XD) and integration of a new responsive interface.
      • Implementing best practices: Versioning (Gitlab), Unit Testing, and Technical Documentation.
      • Fixing security vulnerabilities and optimizing MySQL queries.
